Some of the most interesting business articles seem to come across my screen during the weekend. Here are a few to start off your workweek. I'm pointing you to articles about paying off hospital bills, government data security, hiring talent from the competition, the international web and its laws, and six sigma today.

Last week's newsletter was "Two Polanyi Principles." As usual there were pointers to Web and Reading Resources, too.

From Business Week: Fresh Pain for the Uninsured
"As doctors and hospitals turn to GE, Citi, and smaller rivals to finance patient care, the sick pay much more.

From the Economist: Lost in the post
"Prepare for governments to lose plenty of personal information about you."

From Forbes: When the Competition Is Your C-Suite Source
"Something has to go right for Circuit City's leadership soon to prove to its shareholders that reeling in executives from the competition--a common practice--actually does work."

From the Christian Science Monitor: Whose rules apply to the Web?
"Sites go to extraordinary lengths to stay legal in a world where taboos vary."

From Chief Executive: Is Six Sigma a hard-sell now?
"From Jack Welch of GE to Larry Bossidy of Allied Signal, from Motorola’s Robert Galvin to Mikel Harry of Six Sigma Academy, most of the CEOs sang the Six Sigma song in chorus and eventually did come up with some cost savings, say the myriad industry reports. However, there seems to be a mixed reaction from quality experts on the effectiveness of 6S and its applications. While some management professionals feel that Six Sigma hasn’t lost its sheen yet and is still serving the purpose it was initially designed for, many are opposed to the idea and consider 6S as a mere appraisal tool which has been over-rated mostly as a result of marketing and overexcited public relations."
