Here's a review of my writing on leadership and talent development this week. There were posts on the way it is some days, an opportunity lost, lessons from the top companies on leadership development and the usual pointers to other posts and articles on leadership. There were also my Boss's Tips of the Day and a monthly newsletter on "The Fuller Brush Man."
My posts at Three Star Leadership on Leadership and Becoming a Better Boss
1/22/12: Leadership Reading to Start Your Week
Here are five choice
articles from the business schools, the business press and major consulting
firms to start off your work week. I'm pointing you to articles about why candor
is good for business, the role of industry analysis in strategy development,
creating the conditions for innovation, the fundamentals of change, and the
latest list of the 100 best companies to work for.
Some days
Being a boss can be the most rewarding work there is, but some
days things will be hard.
1/24/12: By and About Leaders
Studying individual leaders is a great way
to learn about leadership. This week I'm pointing you to posts by and about
Pekka A. Viljakainen, Adriana Cisneros de Griffin, John Paul DeJoria, and
Katherine Hays.
1/25/12: A Midweek Look at the Independent Business Blogs
Every week I
select five excellent posts from this week's independent business blogs. This
week, I'm pointing you to posts on Zen lessons for managers, getting the most
from an executive development program, coaching instead of just solving the
problem, and two posts drawing lessons from the Costa Concordia fiasco.
Opportunity Lost
Sometimes you don't seize an opportunity because you're
just not ready. Or maybe you're not worthy or not willing.
1/27/12: Weekend Imagination Igniters
Here's a thought starter and reading
recommendation to ignite your imagination this weekend. I'm pointing you to a
quote from Arno Penzias and a book of essays by Stephen J. Gould.

My posts at Results vs. Activities on Talent Development
Lessons from the Leadership Development Top Ten
On January 12, 2012, Chief
Executive published "40 Best Companies for Leaders 2012: How Top Companies Excel
in Leadership Development." On the eighteenth, they came out with "10 Best
Companies for Leaders: How Focusing on Leadership Development Creates a
Competitive Advantage" which went into more detail on the very best of the best
at leadership development.
1/26/12: Top Talent Development Posts this Week
Every week, I review blogs
that cover talent development to find the very best talent development posts.
This week, you'll find pointers to pieces on talent management in Asia, the
business case for talent management, preparing managers for the future, talent
"portfolios," and mobile learning and ROI.
When you follow me on Twitter you'll receive a stream of pointers to interesting blog posts, articles, and resources throughout each business day.
Client Projects
I'm writing blog posts for one client. I'm helping a strategy consultant write his book and coaching two other authors through the process of writing and publishing their first book.
If you're interested in writing a book, hiring someone to write for you, or just improving your own writing, you should check out my Zero Draft blog about creating or acquiring the writing that makes a business or career grow.
If you want to get a book done or improve your performance as a boss, let's talk about options. My coaching calendar currently has space open.
Information Products
If you're a boss, you should check out my Working Supervisor's Support Kit.
