If you're a boss, you know that every day is a challenge to do better. This tip is based on the same research I used to develop my programs and the Working Supervisor's Support Kit .
Praise effort
Sometimes there's no progress to praise, even though a team member is working hard to improve. There are tasks and assignments where it takes time before any results start to show. When that happens, praise the effort. Praise is the tool of encouragement and there's no time it's needed more than when a person is working hard, but no results show yet.
If you have a copy of the Working Supervisor's Support Kit , you'll find more on this in the chapter titled "Consequences."
If you're wondering how to master the world of social media, check out Becky Robinson's tips for ways to get better results from your social media investment in 12 minutes or less. Becky is my personal go-to source for ideas on how to use social media more effectively.
Wally's Working Supervisor's Support Kit is a collection of information and tools to help working supervisors do a better job. It's based on what Wally's learned in over twenty years of supervisory skills training. Click here to check it out.
