If you're a boss, you know that every day is a challenge to do better. This tip is based on the same research I used to develop my programs and the Working Supervisor's Support Kit .

Planning and After-Action

The most important things you can do to improve performance happen before and after the work. Effective planning makes performance better.

Use short, routine planning meetings to drive routine performance. Do special planning for the new, the unfamiliar, and the truly important.

When the job is done, take time for an after-action critique. Make critique part of your regular week. Take time for it after every major project, event, or surprise.
